I love Wekiwa Springs! The schools are wonderful, the neighborhoods are great peaceful, quiet and safe area. Everything is relatively close within a 20-30 minutes range. Wekiva island is a really cute marine bar on the Wekiva river that allows small parties, business events, kayaking, canoeing and paddle boarding. I have lived here my whole life and don’t plan on moving any time soon.

You can't beat the weather. The summers can be hot, but there is the pool and the beach nearby. Fall and winter is the best, cool nights and mild days - perfect camping weather! I am near many amusement parks including Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, Wet-n-Wild water park, and many more! It has been a great place to grow up. I have had the opportunity to experience much more than most people for the simple fact that I live in Orlando. Orlando also has a lot of nature that many people do not realize. The state parks offer a wide range of beautiful nature including natural springs with a constant water temperature of 72 degrees year round, manatee, alligators, deer, bears, and other wildlife that people forget live in Florida. I think it is so neat when I see a Florida Black bear strolling through my neighborhood.

It does get super hot in the summers, but that is when it is nice to visit places where there are mountains, hiking, and white water rafting. I love to visit mountainous areas with the fresh air and I find it very relaxing, but I think over time I would get bored. I am happy keeping it a nice little retreat away from home - Orlando, Florida.
There haven't been many small stores in the area for quite some time, but a few of the chain stores have closed. The local environment (which includes a state park) has been constantly becoming more and more polluted to the point where the waters are no longer safe to swim in and hurt the animals and plants. Schools are ok, but teachers are being pushed into retiring so new cheaper teachers can replace them. These teachers are often extremely inept; to the point where a group of students who consistently succeed will fail quite horribly. New rules are being imposed such as forcing students to review themselves on a 1-4 scale, which is largely ignored as it only serves to waste time. Teachers are also evaluated based on a student's performance in exams - except foreign language teachers are penalized for having students with poor grades in unrelated subjects such as math. Students not improving in test scores also penalizes teachers, even if the student from a 98% to a 95%.
