Working in Weddington

I live on the border of Weddington & Marvin. I leave the uptown city of tall shiny buildings, past the sprawl of typical suburbs and then immediately sense the change into Weddington as I drive past horse pastures, farms, churches, sunflower fields, historical homes, and large lots. Weddington is the balanced position of being under 10 minutes from multiple excellent commercial centers and the highway, but far enough away to have a quiet county setting with clean air and water and good people. If I could change anything about Weddington it would be more trails, a library, a fast (few stops) rail line up providence road, and a couple wealthy businesses to lower the low taxes further. The biggest downside is the 30 minute commute, but I have an excellent place to raise my kids.
Weddington is constantly growing in terms of shopping centers, jobs, and houses. With all the good that this brings the community, it does cause the problem of overcrowding in schools. No new high schools have been built in recent years, and its starting to show. Weddington High School has amazing academics and phenomenal athletic programs, but classrooms are bursting with students. I would say redistricting was a practical solution, but every other school in the county has this problem. The community of Weddington is very welcoming. Though there aren't any big attractions around, there is still plenty to keep you busy and many places to eat, though its mostly chain restaurants. Its only about a 30 min drive to Charlotte and the CLT Airport, and nearly equal driving distance to the Appalachian Mountains and Outer Banks. It is a great place to settle and to raise children of all ages. In short, Weddington is an above average, though fairly standard suburb and a great community.
I live just outside of Weddington, and I attend school in Weddington. This town is similar to most within the county, if you drive far enough you reach farmland and if you drive far enough in the other direction you're almost in the city. There are many stereotypes that apply to Weddington; everybody is rich, everybody is a cowboy, and so on. But contrary to popular belief, that is not entirely true. There are many different families within the area, and many different places to shop and visit. Transportation is very limited, as you can only travel by car, and many things tend to be far away. But that is similar to any other town within the county.
