The area is generally fair, but the effects of industrialization and economic disparity are very evident. Certain parts feel extremely unsafe, and other parts just feel old. I have yet to reside in a part of this town where sirens are not a regular occurrence. Shootings seem to be regular occurrence as well. To contrast this atmosphere, there is a rather large section of town shielded away containing four story houses with multiple garages and pools. There are plenty of places to eat and a handful of attractions and parks. It’s not the best, and I would live elsewhere if I had the means to.

Waynesboro is a small town with a bad reputation... while it can be quaint and charming and it has a lovely location at the foot of beautiful Afton mountain, it is also home to a large mass of disgustingly unhealthy and obese people, as well as common place to find meth, crack and heroine dealers. Also, aside from a few successes, Waynesboro is where businesses and restaurants come to die. I can think of 25+ businesses or restaurants I've seen come and go in the 18 years I've lived here. The only thing that flies here is chain restaurant garbage. So yea, keep moving. Go to Staunton or Charlottesville.
Overall a good mix of Town and country! Lots of parks and fun things to do. It is also close enough to Charlotesville that you can do fun things there as well without the craziness of the city!
