Working in Waycross
Great place to grow up! Nestled on the edge of the Okefenokee, this town of 15,000 is an affordable bedroom community in an ideal location. Less than 80 minutes east of I-75, west of the Golden Isles, and north of Jacksonville, FL. Waycross offers a lot of restaurants and there's lots of small-town pride. The Gator football team is the pride of the city and everyone feels like a family member. There are lots of trains which is a downfall but it's a nice city besides that. The mall has decent stores and there are lots of cute boutiques to shop at.
Let me start off by saying that I'm more of a city girl so living in a small town like this doesnt amount up to what I'm used to. For the county that I live in to be the biggest county in Georgia, you would think there's plenty of things to do here. News flash- there isnt. I would describe Waycross to be more of a retirement town. This isnt a place for someone young pursuing a career or life for themselves. Currently I'm attending the University of West Georgia and Im glad I made the choice of branching out to start a life for myself.
A small town, everything is fairly easy to find. An hour away from 4 major cities. Not very much to do, but it has a "down home" feeling to it. There's two Walmarts, a small mall, and a few strip malls one can visit if they like. Also, Waycross is home to two colleges, Coastal Pines and South Georgia State. Multiple parks and a good sized lake to enjoy time with your kids if you have any. Overall, an average place.
