Waxhaw is a nice suburban area with many people and subdivisions to live in. There's many different schools within the area, however the redistricting can seriously affect which school your child may go to. Though all the schools provide a good education, school spirit and finance are present in schools such as Marvin Ridge High School and Cuthbertson High School rather than older schools such as Parkwood High School. As a teen, I can vouche for the fact that there are very few activities to do that don't involve driving somewhere or going to Charlotte (which is 45 minutes away). However, for those who enjoy the country/suburban life, this place is perfect. Another thing is that the area is pretty conservative and traditional, meaning some things are more taboo than if one were to go to Charlotte.

The city of Waxhaw definitely has that small town feel to it! So, if you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then Waxhaw is the town for you! You will be able to enjoy the countryside, visit antique shops, meet the locals, enjoy the local festivities, learn about the history of the city, etc.
Waxhaw is a lovely area just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. It has a suburban/semi rural feel and is the best place I have lived yet (coming from Sydney, Australia). The cost of living isn't too bad and even though the real estate market moves quickly there is property for all price points (from $180000 all the way up to $1million +). Waxhaw is also home to some of the best public schools in the state (Marvin Ridge Middle and High, New Town Elementary, Cuthbertson High and Middle). Additionally the climate is excellent not to hot in the summer (around 31C-88F) and mild winters (around 30-40F during day, but chilly at night even down to low teens some nights with occasional snow). Waxhaw is the perfect mix between the East Coast and the South and is an excellent place to raise a family, couldn't recommend it any more.
