The town is well cleaned and I feel very safe walking around. Though there is some crime, the town is much like any other small, college town. But, I do not fear walking around without someone with me or being alone or lost; there is always someone watching, whether it is someone from around town or police (in a non-creepy way).

It's a very cute small town that has everything you need but isn't too far from larger areas. Family-friendly and has great schools - definitely a great place for raising children!
I grew up in Waverly, IA and I enjoyed living there. There are many elementary school and a brand new middle school which is very nice. The education system is fantastic and the teachers are top notch. It is a decent sized town, with many restaurants and grocery stores to satisfy various needs. Waverly is also very safe. I never had any issues of safety and security.
