Wauconda is a vibrant community with a great downtown area that has plenty of bars, restaurants, and retail shopping. Bangs Lake is a huge draw, along with direct access to the Lakewood Forest Preserve and Millenium Trail. Wauconda offers diverse housing, and anyone can make this town home! From trailer parks to mansions on the lake, there's a wide variety of housing styles available. Additionally, the Wauconda PD is very transparent and communicates regularly with residents through social media and other communication channels. Overall, the residents are very friendly and welcoming people. It's a great place to live!

It's a very closed off town, but everyone is mostly friendly, and its a place where everyone knows everyone. The town is full of spirit for the high school football team as well as love and support for their peewee teams. Although all of these things are great the community lacks the understanding that not everything and everyone needs to be part of a clique. Everyone can talk to everyone! We need to be more inclusive right now more than anything.
Growing up in Wauconda has been so wonderful I really cannot describe it. I have been here for all eighteen years of my life and it really is a great town. I love all the different activities held throughout the year, from the Wauconda Fest in the summer to the Holiday Walk in December. The people are all so friendly, and working at a local family restaurant, I have been lucky enough to meet a fair amount of them. If I had to change one thing, I would ask that we have a pool at our Park District. I feel like a community pool would be very beneficial. It could provide swimming lessons and just be a fun place for families to enjoy the water no matter what season. Overall, I take great pride in my little hometown and am so fortunate to have grown up here!
