- Town in Iowa

I love that it is family oriented. There are a lot of family owned businesses that give back to the community.
I’ve lived in Waterloo for over ten years now. I have never felt unsafe or had any issues involving crimes. The schools my kids have been in have been great. There is almost always something to do
Waterloo is a perfect medium sized city located within the predominately rural state of Iowa. It still has a small-town feel while having many amenities including a waterpark, casino, many golf-courses, restaurants and bars - options for all ages and members of the family. You can choose to live in a quiet neighborhood ideal for raising children or downtown to enjoy a more up beat lifestyle. With so many options, anyone can find what they're looking for to suit their lifestyle.
Depending on where you are located, gives rise to different situations that can be seen negatively or positively. I would prefer to see that the community has more services and programs available to them that can help enrich leadership and a sense of community into the Waterloo area. It is run down with low-wage work, and limited assistance to get people moving into the right direction.
The overall crime rate is frustrating, and it feels as if the officers do almost nothing to prevent it.
Friendly people, and great restaurants. Lots of museums and parks. Great bike trails and walking paths.
I was born and raised in Waterloo, IA. It is an amazing town to start a family. It's not too big but not too small. Overall, I really enjoy being in Waterloo.
Wish that there was more to do for entertainment. If there were more places to eat out. That would be wonderful.
I lived there in boyhood. I despised the oiled compond roads that could have been mafe of blacktop to start with. It is affordable and community minded. Loved eating at Freeman's Cafe on Falls Avenue. Burr! It gets cold.
Waterloo native. I’ve lived here all my life and I believe in this community. This town gets a very bad rep, but I believe the community is strong. The last 10 years, especially, the community has grown so much. Much of our town has been restored and will continue to grow.
I’ve been in Waterloo my whole life i would say it’s going to turn into a retirement town the only things I would say that are good is the cheap housing and education system. There is not much to do for the youth or in general, the jobs are minimal here you can only go so far in this town career wise. The crime and poverty rate is high they have programs to assist but sometimes i feel like they don’t want to help. I’m tryin to move to Des Moines this year and finish school and hopefully move somewhere warmer in the future I want to be somewhere with a diversity of things to do and more better job opportunities Waterloo will always be hometown but it’s not thriving and that’s why I feel like a lot of people are leaving all they care about is tearing up the roads anyways lol a lot of people here are messy and miserable cause there’s nothing else to do to keep busy
I love the community coming together to create family events and activities. Could work on creating more places for kids to go durning the winter months like arcades, skating, activity centers, and etc.
Waterloo has a very nice downtown area and has a lot of diversity! There are a lot of people that are friendly and helpful but crime is also increasing in Waterloo. There are plenty of nice homes but many neighborhoods that could use rebuilding and businesses that have been closing down. There is not much to do to keep yourself busy so many people that I know work as much as possible. It is a larger town and the local colleges have very helpful staff and great programs! The employment in Waterloo consist of low wage jobs such as fast food, retail, cleaning, or CDL licensed truck drivers. I would like to see improvements on behalf of entertainment; those attempting to save money who would like to be able to go out for the weekend. Overall, not a bad place to live but also not very enticing!
I like that I was close to my family and my college. I did not like that Waterloo is a terrible place for people with different ethnicities to live.
Waterloo doesn't have a great reputation, but I love my city. The school system is amazing and is investing in advanced programming and technical skills.
Waterloo is a growing town!!!! I would love to see more community events and interaction with our local government. A chance to get to know those making the decisions for our community would make a huge difference.
