Waterbury Reviews

I'm a new Transplant from New York, bought a house here even after hearing it's bad reputation and I live my home. Let's get ONE thing straight, Waterbury is a CITY, NOT a town, if you want that small town vibe move to the outskirts or another city! There is traffic and more cars and people in a city. You can't? Then don't bad mouth the city. People who live here are ALWAYS complain: taxes are high, schools are not good. Education starts at home! Don't like it? Home school your own kids. Drugs, crime, and violence... these things happens in major cities across America CT is not EXEMPT. Y'all don't like the noise? Don't live in a city. I like it here and there is a highway to anywhere you want to go in the state. Relatively quiet street, nice neighbors, and we mind our business. My major dislike, is that this city doesn't do a good job at voting and advertising the local office elections unless you seek them out. For other residents who read this, be the change this city needs!
Waterbury doesn't have the spark that it use to. This is mostly said by older residents of Waterbury. A lot attractions are shutting down with more and more people being disappointed. The Brass Mill Mall use to an attraction for most with stores all over the place, but residents describe it as a graveyard. Safety is one of the most talk about things in the town. With young kids getting a hold on guns and drugs, the more crime happens and will continue to happen when they get older. As a teenager living in Waterbury I know this because I was in the public school system. Kids showing up on drugs, smoking in the bathrooms, and disobeying the staff at school. Waterbury is not on a rise and that needs to change. New attractions need to come as well as more discipline on crime in order for Waterbury to be a fun and safe place to live.
What I like about Waterbury is the location being near the towns and cities my extended family lives. Waterbury consists a lot of friendly people, including my own family. Not only is the community diverse, the community is also friendly.
However, I would like to see positive changes in crime rates, drug usage, gun usage, and an overall positive living space for all in Waterbury.
