I have lived here all my life. It's a typical suburban/rural town. It's starting to become more developed (ie more housing and businesses). However, the high school is awful and despite their great amount of wealth continuously requests for more taxes.

Small town 20 minutes away from the big city. Washougal is ideal for small city people. There are some new shops in the small downtown area of Washougal: coffee shop, sushi, BBQ restaurant, hardware store and more. There are also several nice condos being built as Washougal is slowly growing. In the summer time families enjoy Cotton Wood beach (Columbia River) or Washougal River to cool off in. There are parks and a variety of scenic trails for walkers/ runners.
Washougal is a stunning area with so many local gems. The people are kind and thoughtful and always willing to help which in this day and age is rare .
I see locals just "clearing the areas and planting new trees" to give back.
I see people just stopping and asking "how are you".
I have the most superb neighbors and would not consider living anywhere else.
