I’ve spent most of my life in Washington, NC. A quaint town that didn’t budget for community out reach very much until a few years ago. Now it’s becoming a bustling little river town, but there are some downfalls to that.

The city itself needs updates and it often floods in the center of town during a heavy rain, not close to water at all.

We are not great at preparing for snow.

School systems are good, excellent teachers.

We have cat over population in the downtown area.

There is quite a bit of racism in the community, some people are very active in trying to rise above it and learn better ways....a lot are stuck in their ways.

Small businesses are the heart of our community, so please patronize them.

State Park Goose Creek is right down the road by 10 minutes, which is nice for a hike!

We live just 9 blocks from the river and a lovely marina and boardwalk area. People here are very friendly, great local restaurants, and a fantastic local music scene. Greenville is 20 miles away, providing any shopping or dining ops not available in little washington.
I love the town of Washington. I lived about 30 miles from Washington my whole life and now that I am married, I live in Washington. It is a beautiful city with a wonderful waterfront area to walk and enjoy yourself. There are so many locally owned stores downtown and many great places to eat. Everyone knows everyone and it is just beautiful. I do wish there were more things to do such as bowling and fun game places.
