Wappingers is a suburban town near Poughkeepsie, and is close enough to the city to be an easy commute. While the area has its positives, the area also lacks a great education system, which is average. For a young family, it's a great starting place. Most of the people are nice and friendly, and the area is both expensive and affordable.
I would like to see the village of Wappingers develop and become refurbished. I enjoy different aspects of the town, such as Meadowbrook Farm, the school district, Bowdoin Park, and many hiking trails. The town is in close proximity to New York City, and it has easy access to Connecticut, New York State Thruway, Interstate 84, and the Hudson Valley.
This area isn't anything special but I've lived here my entire life and I have grown to love it. It is a small, quiet town in the Mid-Hudson Valley, right along the river so there are many spots to go and marvel at its beauty. There isn't too much going on but it can be a very fun and relaxing place if you know your way around it and appreciate its simplicity. I would absolutely choose to live here again, it is a nice quiet place to settle down with quick and easy access to NYC only an hour away. I rate this area very highly because it is home to me and I have grown to love it and appreciate it but didn't give it a perfect rating because it is not extravagent like other places in the country or even the world and outsiders coming in would not appreciate it as much as its residents would.
