Wapato is a small town that specializes mostly in agriculture. It is not a very safe place, but it is quite diverse and the commute is great as well!
Wapato is an alright place to live. I am a current reaident here and although I don't feel too safe being here, it is where I grew up so I'm speaking from experience. There are barely any jobs and not very lively. There are not too many friendy people either.
Wapato is a small town with a lot of crime (gang violence, shootings, robberies, kidnappings, the list goes on). The only enjoyable thing about this town are the taco stands.
Wapato is a very diverse town and helps connects its residents to two major cultures: Native American and Mexican. For all the years I have lived in this quaint town, I have not yet been disappointed by what it has to offer. However, Wapato is much more than the carnecarias and panaderias downtown, the vegetation out on the countryside flourishes every year and has become a part of what Wapato is, a provider for all.
I lived in and Around Wapato my whole life. It is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery and orchards. the school is brand new in Wapato and culture is very diverse. Nightlife is nearby in Yakima or tri-cities, job opportunities is at a random field work, unless logging or a business management person. it is my home and a person can live ok, or better in the surrounding area of Wapato!
Small town, no negative experiences. Not a very personal community, would like to see more community events.
I grew up in this small town, people say that it's a poor town but in reality this town shows how much they want to improve the community. They try to keep the kids involve in any sport possible. At times there isn't much to do but one good thing is that your friends are easy to reach. They either live 2 blocks away from you or 10 minutes. This town isn't much but it's home to me if you take time an get to know people around this area you can easily become friends and that's more important being rank as the riches town in Yakima.
Very tight knit community. Only a few places of business. Career opportunities are very sparse and offer no advancement.
Really peaceful town. There's not much to do but the lion's park it's a good place to go. You should visit during summer and early fall. We got fresh apples and cherries. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to eat.
It's a nice quite neighborhood, in a small town. Friendly neighbors, close to school districts and markets within range.
Overall the experience of this area has been okay. The schools are improving on some minor changes. The high school was remodeled. They opened a new pharmacy that's very convenient because it has a drive thru window. There is also a new gym called Anytime fitness. It has brought more people to come into this area for the new businesses they started. This area also has alot of homeless native americans. I hate to see them in the streets wearing the same clothes everyday and always panhandling for beer. This place isn't the best place to live but I lived here for 13 years. I plan on moving somewhere near the future. I hope they expand this place and have more residents to come move to the area.
There really is not or any attractions for tourist to come and see here in Wapato except looking at the new amazing high School.
Here we have a fire station looks pretty neat and ready to go compared to the police station, to me looks lazy, untrustworthy and like if they don't care or put there efforts to look for a stolen car. I know though I think our mayor or governor does care about the future of the students in school.
The weather here is casual a lot more sunny, cloudy, winds, rain and if gets really hot some clouds form and lightning starts. Also its not rare but does sometimes snow a lot, but its not really bad, just ok snow. I love it, it is the type of perfect weather everyday for me to go to school calmly and drive to places carefully without being so scared of horrifying weather everyday. Usually my clothes are simple, casual, comfy, the right colors with jeans or skinny jeans even dresses, skirts and shorts along with sandals, shoes or boots.
The top business so far are Saint Jack's video, Flores Laundromat, Wolf Den, International market, Valley Fruit, dairy queen, subway, los Amigos and Xpress mart are the most known stores to earn people to want to work there. Here people work from morning till it's between 4 or 6 pm. For instance my mom works at the valley fruit in Wapato, Washington. She wakes up at 5 am leaves to get at her job at 6 am, then works till 4:30 pm or little bit more. She will only get 2 or 3 days of off work. What she does, especially since she is Mexican, is what Wapato looks. Wapato has more Mexican citizens, mostly all I here from other friends, is there parents work at agriculture companies.
In Wapato there are mostly Mexican restaurants then other types, for example here in Wapato there is only one dairy queen restaurant, which is good in my case. Why? because to many citizens eat more fast fattening food than real culture food. In this case buying or making the tacos then eating with either friends or family is pleasurable. People in the town of Wapato know a restaurant called "Noah Noah" has know to be having delicious drinks called agua de fresa.
Here where I live there is rental movie store so families, teens and adult hang outs can enjoy watching a movie is pretty fantastic. Also very delicious taco stand called "Taco Sanchez" and Lorrien's , were different drinks are served and its mostly popular than any other café stand, here in Wapato.
