I have lived in Wanaque all of my life and it is your typical boring neighborhood. Nothing much happens around town and other residents are usually unpleasant to interact with. I have never had any safety issues in town and I consider it a pretty safe neighborhood, but the public school system is horrible.

I would only recommend someone who is going to retire or does not have young kids to live in Wanaque. It is a beautiful town for retirement but I had no excitement growing up here as a kid. The affordability is not so great, either. I am currently paying $1,200 for rent in a place that isn't worth nowhere near that amount. Overall, I can't wait to move out of here!

What I like about Wanaque is how peaceful it usually is. Because it is a suburb, it is easy to know where places, such as small and fast food restaurants, are. I do not know a lot of people in the town, but there are friendly people there. I was grateful to have some amazing teachers in late elementary school and middle school (at the elementary school in Haskell), as well as in high school, who care about you, your performance in their classes and your future, specifically your plans after high school.
Wanaque is a great family town to live in. Everyone here is so nice and the town is a really safe place. The schools are great! And Wanaque is just one of the best places to live in New Jersey!
