The downtown is amazing! There are countless stores to choose from, and each and every single one of the stores are all super-duper trendy and glamorous. I really appreciate having the privilege of being able to live in this pleasurable place. There are quite a few people living in this town, but it is a large place. There are many different elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools, and a college nearby, too. Most of the schools are great, and earn a high amount of points on school-review websites. Also, there are a lot of events that go on within Walnut Creek, such as the Art and Wine Festival, the Walnut Festival (an annual tradition), and the running festival. Walnut Creek is located at the foot of Mount Diablo, which is a very fabulous and snazzy mountain that you can climb up. Every decade, it will snow, sometimes only every few years, and everyone goes outside when it falls. I am very happy that I can grow up somewhere like here. I really love Walnut Creek.
Walnut Creek is a town that I grew up in and attended school in, and since I have moved away after living there for 6 years, I can confidently say that it was a decent city to live in. It's a great place for individuals and families to live in as it is family-friendly with lots of activities and recreational areas to make use of during your free time, as well as tons of activities that children can join. I will say that the schools were just average, definitely, the schools themselves have good resources for students to utilize such as science labs, computer labs, and theaters however they do need a good maintenance update. Moreover, incidents between students and teachers not being fair have ramped up in the past few years. Another thing to point out is that it does seem that crime has increased but there has been an effort from the city to make sure that the city remains safe. The biggest change however is that the city has become quite an expensive town to live in.
Walnut Creek is about as generic as it gets. It's got a manufactured downtown full of unremarkable chain stores, conceptually horrible food and tacky nightlife - think restaurants that prioritize loud music and gaudy decor, where food is the afterthought. If you are educated, an environmentalist, travel to other countries, and enjoy farmers markets, (if you are progressive or sophisticated) then you will hate Walnut Creek. If you are looking for a more culturally sophisticated downtown like Berkeley, San Mateo, San Rafael, or Los Gatos then take a hard pass on Walnut Creek.
