Its a nice small town located in the heart of the big island of Hawaii, the vibe is just beautiful and gives you real taste of what Hawaiis like in a small town. People are very nice, there are many great places to eat, also the views of Mauna Kea are amazing. I recommend stopping by if you get a chance too!
Waimea is a wonderful place to take the family, friends, or just yourself. The city is right next to the beach. There is also is a beautiful cliff side abundant with shrubbery. Not only do you have a beautiful view of the ocean but also there is so much cultural influences. Although there are many different races, there is mostly a mix between Polynesians and Asian tourist. Because of the multiple military bases there are so many different backgrounds, religions, and races. There is also a large abundance of food influences. From sea food, fried foods, Asian cuisine, even Mexican, there are all types of amazing food. Not only is the view while your in Waimea, but also on the way scenery like you have never seen in your life land that looks like it has never been touched by man. Waimea is one of the most amazing places I have ever had the honor of being able to visit and live close to there.
Very good private schools, very small but fairly close to beaches and hikes. However it is very expensive. If you are at least upper middle class or want to send your kids to a great private school and have them grow up in a great area this is the place. However, I would not suggest it for any other demographic of people.
