Small hometown! Safe, family friendly environment. Lots of opportunity for work and living. Perfectly located near several larger communities as well.
Vincennes is a small town with a tight nit community and lots of history. The town is expanding with new stores and restaurants opening soon. Summertime is filled with lots of activities for the whole family such as the Rendezvous, watermelon festival, and the Riverwalk food trucks.
Vincennes is a great little community. I love the atmosphere and the location. I do wish that more businesses were willing to take a risk with Vincennes. I think businesses are afraid because of the size that they will not do well. I think Vincennes is a great place to get an education, start a family, or great for any point in ones life.
I enjoy the diversity the town of Vincennes has to offer. There are a ton of good food places and a big park for the kids to play at. There are lots of shops and stores as well which is great for Christmas time.
Vincennes is a city with a very prominent presence of nature. There are many parks, ponds, lakes, wooded areas, and a river with much diverse wildlife. Vincennes also has numerous restaurant and shopping options for a day out on the town. Vincennes is the first city of Indiana and as a result has much rich history and a scenic, historic downtown. Being located in rural Indiana citizens also have regular access and view to the sprawling countryside of the state. Being a university town, there is much opportunity for the community in terms of schooling, employment, and community events. Despite these good things, I still found many parts of residential streets to be lacking in terms of cleanliness and functional roads and sidewalks.
I DON'T RECOMMEND It's so weird in Vincennes, I have seen a dead bird on the sidewalk, People hooked on meth walking around looking like zombies, meth houses that blow up on the regular. It is also a rasict little city, I was so happy to leave there.
Vincennes was a great place to grow up and raise a family. I received my degree from the local university and work at the community hospital. The town is small and lacks diversity, but is affordable and family-friendly. The biggest crime issue is lots of meth and street drugs.
Vincennes doesn't get the care it deserves for being Indiana's first city. Most everything is run down, historic homes & buildings. There is no sense of community, justice, culture, diversity, or really much of anything. The police force will be after you if you are a black minority coming here for the University. The graduation rate is below 30%. There is no growth or opportunity in this community. Very backwards, I would not raise a family here.
There is nothing to do in vincennes. I know you get to see familier faces and there isn't a lot of traffic, but there is nothing to do here for teens and young adults.
I enjoy living in Vincennes Indiana and getting to see it's community grow. I am very active in many organizations that contribute to Vincennes; I love getting to see my work making a difference. Our town definitely has a small town feel! I love this because when you go somewhere you always see a familiar face!
Vincennes is very small, everyone knows each other. The bright side is getting places is very fast there’s never any traffic unless there’s a train.
There are good food places but because it’s a poor town there aren’t many places to shop. Anything I could change about the town would be food places being open passed 11pm on a week day. College students eat in the middle of the night while studying and no where is open.
I love the small town atmosphere! Lots of new businesses have been coming in to open up here and it makes it so much more exciting to be here. I would love to see more retail stores come in.
Vincennes is a small city with a lot of history and a lot of potential. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of crime and drug use. Also, train tracks over every major road and trains cut the town in half several times a day every day.
Vincennes is a great town with a local university and parks and recreations we really enjoy. The things I'd change is the crime and drugs there seem out of control due to poor job opportunities.
Vincennes is a small college town with several nice parks and schools. Even though it is a college town there is no worry of drunk college kids wandering around town or driving. Gregg Park just added a small water park for kids and are currently working on a weight park in the same area to promote healthy living.
Vincennes is the first city of Indiana. It is small and has some beautiful architecture. There are some houses that need to be torn down. The people here are very friendly and helpful. There is a waterpark during the summer along with the Watermelon Festival. The 4th of July fireworks are amazing. I've lived in large cities that don't set of a firework display as large as the one Vincennes. There are beautiful monuments and history in this small town.
