Van Buren is a small town just outside of Fort Smith. Fort Smith is a city that's slowly dying and therefore has less and less career opportunities every year. Van Buren is a very safe community with great schools. Like most small towns in the south there isn't much to do. It has a lot of history related stuff (small museums, a 2 hour train excursion etc) to do and see.

Van Buren Township has a hometown feeling. Very family friendly community. And very convenient place to live, their are a lot of stores in the area for grocery shopping and to picking up last minute items like T-shirt or shorts at the local Walmart. Also they have the small business owners that help brighten the community up. The small business owners have very unique shops within this community that help make the Community more welcoming and also makes you want to keep coming back.
We moved to Vanburen a couple years ago. The buying opportunities were better for us here because the houses were cheaper than buying in Fort Smith yet it's a close neighbor. You get to enjoy a more quiet home atmosphere.
