I moved to Valley City in 2006 and fell in love with the tight-knit community and cozy feel. Valley City is too small for a shopping center but big enough for family owned businesses to branch out. I have had nothing but good experiences while living in Valley City. Although I like living in a small town, having to drive an hour or so to shop for clothes is somewhat of a drag. We also have to co-op with other towns on certain sports like hockey, soccer, and swimming because we don't have the numbers to have our own team so we drive 30 miles.
Valley City is a fairly small sized town, but I am glad that I was able to grow up here. The size of Valley City allows you to know people personally. I really enjoyed being able to go to a high school where I graduated knowing all of my classmates. There are many different good restaurants. There aren't a lot of activities for youth and college-aged students to become involved in, however.
