this city is a very nice place. It is not too far away from the beach or from the city. It's in the middle. But I would like to changes like more activity for teens.
The weather is great! The high school football scene is very entertaining here at Winnersville. It's a good place to retire.
I love the how everything is at a good distance, you don't have to go far to get your wants or needs. I would love to see the healthcare provider's change. The same company owns half of everything here, so for my comfort I drive to Colquitt for their health providers. Their demeaner is more calmer and safe feeling than Lownds.
Valdosta is a plain, boring town. Overall, it's a safe place to raise your kids if you can afford to live in the nicer neighborhoods and send them to the better schools.
Not much to do here but you can find small things to do lots of churches , gastaions, hotels and lots of restaurants on almost every rode
I am starting my college life in Valdosta Georgia this year as a freshman. I and my parents have visited stores and restaurants during my orientation and recently when I moved into the dorms. The people we have encountered have all been pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. To me this feels like a very 'home' atmosphere.
Valdosta has a small town feel, but is a metro city. It has a large variety of shopping, restaurants and things to do. Lowndes school system is awesome!
As a young woman it was hard not to get harassed nearly every time I stepped outside. People here will pull you aside to harass you, heckle you, scam you. There is a lot of poverty here. I'm not surprised by that though, because the job opportunities here are horrible. If you work minimum wage jobs like myself just know that the min wage here is $7.50 and you will get few hours - and that's just if you can get a call back. Roads are terrible, I wouldn't be surprised if this town's layout hasn't changed at all for the past century. The height of entertainment here is going to the mall. Everyone here is so miserable that you can literally feel it in the air, interacting with anyone or going anywhere was so depressing. I recently moved back home because Wiregrass and VSU both weren't willing to help me with the transfer process, and let me tell you I cried tears of joy the second I got home. Blessing in disguise.
There's literally a district here called "Kill me Quick". Yeah.

Valdosta is a network of neighbors created by the many diverse members of the community – each celebrated and valued individually and collectively. Whether you are a long-time resident, a newcomer to the community or just passing through, you are a vital part of this community.
Well, I have been here all my life I would say Valdosta is a nice city but sometimes you would have to find something to do in order to have fun if you are from a bigger city.
I got stranded here after I got sent 200 miles away from Augusta to the Greenleaf facility. I was stranded for a month and nearly became permanently homeless. Everyone shouts when they talk and it’s almost like pre-sentient language punctuated by fake laughs and guttural noises. I’m used to Southern accents but I couldn’t communicate with most of these idiots. I was so happy to finally climb into a smelly Greyhound bus and leave forever.
Valdosta, GA is a diverse, lively city in south Georgia. My husband and I moved here after college to pursue our careers in elementary education and higher education, and we are loving our time spent here. The university adds youth and diversity to the city, and they host events that are engaging and promote community. Likewise, the city of Valdosta is also alive with coffee shops, unique restaurants, shopping opportunities, and a homey feel.
When you are a single female, people are constantly stealing, or trying to, in various ways. And threatening you.
When you need skilled labor things done...forget it. You can't get anything done. For any price. And especially done correctly.
My biggest mistake in life was moving here. If I ever can sell and leave..I'm going back to south Florida.
As for several of categories given here, I have no idea about. Such as nightlife, Family friendly. Etc.

I am a young professional who moved there for a job but had grown up near enough to regularly visit the town on my way to Florida. These were generally happy memories, which is why I was ecstatic to move there, but I quickly discovered after moving (and confirmed with multiple life-long residents) that something changed in the city in the past ten years or so. It became very negative (almost like on purpose), the crime got terrible, and it is pretty clear greed and local government corruption have spiked. A lot of restaurant and local business workers behave very oddly towards a lot of the customers, and a lot of people won't shut up about taking up golf. In my opinion, the entire area (especially middle-aged and older government workers) needs to be overhauled and maybe investigated.
Very odd behavior.
There also used to be more diversity in the town (like, there once was at least A gay bar...I actually heard they are opening some), and Remerton isn't the worst quiet weekend out.

Was basically forced to move here, as my spouse is active duty at Moody AB. Drivers here are either slow, terrible, or a combination of the two. There are barely any bike lanes at all and the built environment (with the exception of downtown) is abysmal. Wouldn't at all recommend for people who enjoy being outdoors.
Valdosta needs more businesses that offer stable and meaningful careers. Valdosta also needs public transportation system.
Literally went into a gas station and no toilet paper was in the restroom so I asked the worker at the register he said “not for people like you”. the said “you can buy some that’s your only option”. Just regular black male wanting to blow his nose. RACIST to the full.
