Quaint... certainly encapsulates the Upper Lake experience. The small town main drag with rustic charm, excellent mid-priced cuisine options, historical lodging or modern convenience rooms at the Super 8. My rating falls one short of a five star for this reason: Perfect setting for a fenced, off-leash dog park that as yet does not exist... hint, hint...

I love Upper Lake. It is a wonderful place to live where everybody knows everybody and we all look out for one another. It located very close to wilderness making it ideal for those loving the outdoors, hunting, camping, dirt bike riding. It is also only a short drive to the bay area, making it ideal for those that want access to the big city but still want the seclusion and slowness of a quaint country life. Upper lake is a hard place to find housing in due to the fact that everybody wants to be here. If you are lucky enough to find a place enjoy.
It's a beautiful rural small town right by Clearlake. While I can walk to the lake, there is little to do other than a few local shops and better nearby towns like Lakeport or Ukiah. We are close to Fort Bragg and Sacramento, so traveling to different geographic areas is not difficult to do. The wildlife is plentiful with many lakes around us such as Clearlake, and my favorite, Blue Lakes which are actually clearer than the former. I love it here in Upper Lake, I just wish there was more for kids to do around here.
