Living in Monticello Indiana is great because where not a very large community but we are also not very small. Monticello is the happy medium; living in Monticello you know your neighbors and could count on them to help you in a time of need. Our community comes together in a time of need because there was once a time the whole community was in need. Most of the community was wiped out by a tornado in 1974. Another great thing that really does a lot for the community is Indian Beach or if you spend any kind of time around the area "the beach". The Beach brings in tourist every summer and it's great to meet all of those people that come from everywhere to get a little taste of Monticello and the Lakes surrounding it.

I do not personally believe that Monticello has a lot of crime. The officers that patrol are streets and answer to call are very nice, respectable, and responsible. Our officers are always quick on scene and helpful to the community, because of this I feel very safe in the community.
Rural country setting with two lakes running right through the center. People living in this area tend to be down to earth but it is a small area so there is local drama from time to time. The reason I live here is for the rural views, wooded areas, lake life, low traffic, and of course my family. Most people in this area stay because their entire family is close by which is a wonder thing.
