Growing up in Tucker has been amazing! It is a wonderful city that is very close-knit. It has multiple elementary schools, 1-2 middle schools, and 1 main high school. I had the opportunity to go to school in the city. The amount of diversity I grew up in my wondrous! I love having friends from all cultures. It's a 15-35 minute commute to downtown Atlanta, but only a 10-15 commute to the nearest MARTA station (Atlanta's public transportation). Overall, if you are looking for a quaint, yet bustling town to start your family in, Tucker is a wonderful option!
As a current resident of Tucker Georgia, I enjoy a variety of features the city has to offer. The convenience of readily available grocery stores, doctor offices, malls, fast food restaurants and countless other amenities ease the burden of accessing the essential goods and services for accommodating an appreciable living standard. For instance, there are at least 7 different types of banks and a total of over 12 within a two-mile radius of my home. I bank with a less popular bank, which is why I tend to have difficulty finding a convenient branch location. With a wide variety and availability of banks, I’ve had no trouble finding a nearby branch. Another facet I’ve observed is that the city does not concentrate the highest commerce generating activity in one area. Large and smaller businesses alike are sporadically spread all throughout the city, almost as if to ensure everyone is equally accommodated. All I would like to see changed is better maintenance of the roads.
I have loved living in Tucker for the past 3 years. I also worked here for 4 years prior to moving here. It's a nice, diverse, family-oriented area and is one of the more affordable suburbs of Atlanta that is still actually safe. I love that it's convenient to lots of restaurants and not a bad commute to get to more bustling spots like Decatur, Buford Hwy and Alpharetta. Compared to my experience living in other suburbs around Atlanta (ranging wildly from Panthersville to Johns Creek), Tucker has been the my favorite place.
