It is a nice, quiet town. There are restaurants, fast food places and a shopping center. Also a senior center. People are not very friendly but it is New England so expectations in this regard need to be properly adjusted. One part of Townsend called Timberlee Park is quite friendly for people who like to go for walks or ride bikes. The main negative is the amount of dog waste on the streets and sidewalks. Clearly people in Townsend love their animals but do not love cleaning up after them. Despite the Town ordinance (and common sense) that makes such cleaning mandatory.
I have loved my experience with Townsend! I have lived here since I was 5 years old and the community is amazing. Everyone is so involved and really care about our community here.
Townsend has some great, important factors to it. It is a very safe town, it is a great place to raise a family. The public schools are pretty good, probably some of the better ones in this area, but one full star is removed for NM High School. If possible, I'd recommend either going to Nashoba Tech or to use school choice for a nearby school. It is also one of the more affordable towns in this area of Massachusetts. However, with these benefits, you do give up the less important factor of entertainment, but there are surrounding areas that have plenty to do
I like how everyone seems to get along with each other here. I would like to change how close some people are to each other.
I moved to Townsend Massachusetts when I was in fifth grade, and since then I have fallen in love with this town that I call home. Although, we do not have much, our town and the people in it are very supportive. The first responders in this town are quick on scene and protect us. One particular thing that I love about this town is the education system, its absolute incredible giving students like myself thousands of opportunities throughout each grade level to make a difference which leads us in the direct path.
Great little tight nit town. Everyone knows everyone and are always there for each other. The schools in the area are great and give children the tools they need to further their educations and lives.
I grew up in the very center of Townsend, and so I feel as though I have truly gotten to experience the town. It's the perfect small town- a little cafe on the corner, a beautiful new library with some amazing resources, and plenty of places to walk around and explore. I have moved to a different part of town recently which is right across the street from a state park, so I have been loving taking walks on the trails. Our police force and fire and EMT workers are all amazing, and they are incredibly approachable whenever they are around town. Townsend has numerous fairs and annual events that are really fun to attend, and even have band concerts every Thursday night during the summer. Townsend is such an adorable and comfortable place to call home.
Townsend is a small town, but everything is nearby! There's a few banks, a grocery store, a massive library to study and coffee! The streets get busy with cars coming to and from school/work at certain times, but it's nothing too tough to handle. There are plenty of small stores, there's a pharmacy, and a couple gas stations in good health!
The Townsend Police Department is wonderful. They respond quickly and are great at town education.
We have a fairly low crime rate. The police are also visible and responsive. Overall we feel safe.
Older community now. Not too interested in education. We have had two overrides in the last 5 years that our town did not pass. It is a nice quite town, but the politics have taken a turn for the worse.
Cost around here is kind of bad, especially electricity. Taxes are kind of expensive too. As for abandoned houses and stuff, there are almost no abandoned houses or vacant lots.
People are quite nice here, and there are many different community activities and no one is outwardly mean.
This is a quiet homely little town with lots to do. The Scouting enviroment is great, there are hiking spots everywhere, and the town has a warm, soft atmosphere. There is a forested section to the west, and on the other side of town is a rural, yet organized section. over all, the town is a nice, quiet place to live, with major shopping areas 30 minutes or less from the center of town.
I love the area I live in the weather is amazing the people are great and i had no problem find a job that suits a high school or college student
Townsend is a relatively small town, where the main street is a state highway that can take you to any large store or area that you need to be within 25 minutes. The people here are very kind, and education is generally good. There is a bit of a drug problem here, although that is mostly underground and not apparent to the people living here. There is a shopping center, multiple restaurants, a major corporation's plant, and multiple parks. Large portions of the town are forested and sit within deep woods. Hiking and camping are easy to do here, and I definitely enjoy participating in that. Honestly, I'm happy that I grew up here.
We only have one abandoned property.I am currently looking into finding the landlord to the house. It is located on my street it has been abandoned for a long time now and I would like to fix it up and rent the property. I will be checking with the town hall to see if there is a note on this house or if it has been deemed unfit to live in. I would love to take it over fix it up and possibly live in it when I am done. I am willing to pay rent or what is needed to be paid. I cant do much but I would love to talk to the person that owns that property. To see what type of agreement we could come to. Its really not that bad on the heat cost and the elec cost. It averages and it also depends what you use. I feel the best area to reside is Townsend, Ma it is a wonderful area for a family. I grew up here and it has always been a real nice town.
