Townsend Reviews
Rating 4 out of 5 3 reviews
It's a pretty incredible place to live. I grew up here and my parents and siblings still live here. There's not much to not like about it. It's secluded and quiet, so you don't deal with big city traffic. It's also less than an hour away from Knoxville, and it's one of two entrances into Cades Cove, part of the Smoky Mountains National Park. People here are friendly and considerate, and they love to be that way. I can't imagine a better place for people to live, and I hope that it stays this way.
Townsend is a community near an entrance of the GSMNP. It has minimal business and restaurants, and those often close in the winter. So, there is no night life, Little day life, and you must drive at least 18 miles to get anywhere.
Often called the peaceful side of the Smokies, Townsend offers scenic beauty without the neon light pollution encountered elsewhere. It's not uncommon to wake up to turkeys, deer and even bears strolling by while having your morning coffee.
