Most of Torrington is a great place to be. There are many family friendly restaurants (Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Greek, etc.). On Main Street, the KidsPlay children's museum is an absolute blast (my niece loved it!), and the Warner Theatre is wonderful for all types of people. While the South End of Torrington isn't great, the vast majority of Torrington neighborhoods are safe, fun, and most of the people who reside here are great to be around. After school, my friends and I (typically all girls, we never felt unsafe) would walk around Main Street and Water Street. We would stop in at Cafe 38 to grab hot chocolate and a bite to eat, and see what Kelly's Crystals Boutique had to offer. Torrington is a good place to visit and live.

There are some very great parts of Torrington. Downtown Torrington is somewhat rundown in some locations. However, poor appearances do not affect the overall functionality of the city in any way. Torrington is an average city. There is a great amount of diversity. This includes ethnicity, social status, etc. For the majority, most people in Torrington seem to get along well, and many great employees at local businesses can be found from the people living in Torrington. There are some wonderful small local businesses in Torrington, however, the general consensus seems to be that everyone wishes there were more places to hang out in town. Overall, I would say Torrington is an average Connecticut city, including all of the positives and negatives.
While some of the roads and buildings may seem to be in disrepair, Torrington, CT is bursting with life and community. The town is home to the Nutmeg Conservatory and the Warner Theatre, providing locals and visitors alike with myriad opportunities to attend musicals, plays, and dance and music performances. Main Street also boasts the Performance Hub, a local concert venue, and down the street you can find the Five Points art gallery. These two places offer fun art and music events for the whole family, as well as offering a creative outlet to local artists and musicians. While Torrington may not look like much at first glance, all you need to do is look a little bit closer to find a community full of life!
