Topeka is a great city with a lot of diversity. However, drugs and crime, especially theft and violent crime are a huge problem here and it is sad to see what has happened to my city! I think it is time to get rid of the conservative leadership throughout Kansas and stop allowing them to steal our resources for themselves! USD 501 is horrible. There is nothing for kids, especially adolescents to do here, especially low-income kids, and not a lot for adults to do either except for the ridiculously high numbers of bars. Not everyone enjoys bars. Prices are high and entertainment is low.

Topeka, Kansas is my hometown and I'm very proud to be from there. Topeka is one of the most diverse places in Kansas and it keeps on growing everyday. My favorite places in Topeka are Burnett's Mound and Brown v. Board. There is so much history in Topeka, that it's a shame that most people don't know it even exists!
There is not a lot to do here, and the weather is extreme! I am originally from Sarasota, FL. I guess it is hard to compare the two very different cities. If you like hills and a lot of open space, then Kansas might be the place for you. It has been the perfect place for me to be a successful student in college.
On a happy note, we do have the most beautiful sunflower farms and an annual hot air balloon festival in September that are pretty spectacular! I would say that Kansas is a lovely place to visit, but I do not enjoy living here, winters are rough for a Florida girl!
