I've lived in this town my whole life, so it's very easy for me to just look at the up-sides of things. However, it is a very small town of about 1200 people, so everybody knows each other, and if they don't they probably know your great grandpa or someone else in your family. The town itself looks kind of sad as you drive through it because there just isn't much there, and the high school looks exactly the same as it did in the sixties. But it isn't just the buildings or the property that I see. I see the people. They are what make up my small little country town, and I wouldn't trade them for anything. That's why I wouldn't have wanted to grow up anywhere else. You have teachers that have taught your grandparents, and athletic and band boosters that do whatever they can to help those programs succeed. And you have parades, fourth of July "Frontier Days" on the town square where everyone shows up and plays crazy games and sees who can shell peas the fastest, or throw an egg the farthest without dropping it. This is why I love my little town.
Timpson is one of many small rural communities situated in the heart of East Texas. It has a low crime rate and many churches. There is absolutely no nightlife and limited small businesses.
This is a small little home town. There are not a whole lot of people, but its a better pace than city life. its quite and comfortable. You can go camping in your backyard and find wildlife. Its really the best place to be if you want fresh air, and some brisket for dinner.
