Neighbors are friendly but respect and enjoy privacy. Wildlife includes chirping birds, squirrels, lizards and the rare but occasional black bear and housecat lynx. About ten minutes from the edge of town, for gas stations, movie theaters, grocery stores, etc and 20 minutes from Uptown area with malls, culture, restaurants, etc. Or head into the hills for a more rural experience including skiing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, etc. Also smaller restaurants, grocery stores, hardware, churches etc.
I have lived here all my life and it is very nice to look at but it's very difficult to move around and be close to anything depending on where you live, and the weather is very weird but still good.
This morning, I walked to the post office. There are hills so it is a nice workout. Yesterday I hopped on the freeway to get to work in less time than it takes from the hilly part of town. The library here is very friendly. Unlike the county libraries in town, the county library here was willing to proctor my online college exams. This year we hope to have a new mayor. We found a qualified person in hopes of regaining State funding to complete a sewer project. Our neighborhood is private but one very happy dog likes to run around to say "Hi" to everybody. He comes over to take me for walks in the morning. Tonight my husband and I will drive around the mountain to one of our favorite restaurants. I could picture a healthy restaurant doing well here in the future. Each year, we try to do a block party, including picking up trash that blows over in the wind. We have a nice house so I could picture living here for awhile. We get the four seasons and it is lovely here, during all of them, with awesome views and mountain biking. I see great potential for solar energy here. Some of our neighbors have already set up. We have amazing wildlife sightings here.
