Crime & Safety
Such a small, close knit community. Everyone is always willing to go the extra mile for everyone else!
I have lived in this area for my entire life and would like to earn my degree, raise a family, and retire here. We are fortunate to have a number of excellent colleges and universities nearby. The cost of living is very good. Housing is reasonably priced. Based on other areas, the crime rate is low. I feel very safe in this area. Unfortunately, the unemployment rate is the third highest in the state of Pennsylvania. Since, the majority of manufacturers and factories have either closed or left the area, many of the current jobs are service-oriented with low pay. I believe that the current job situation is responsible for the low moral of its citizens. Our schools are average compared to schools across the country. While I would like to see this area improve, unfortunately, I do not see that happening in the near future.
Its definitely a better area than within the actual city. Its quiet, full of old people, or young families. There is one drug dealer in the entire borough who lives across the street. But other than, its nice.
