Since the construction on Main has finished, Main is now more functional and aesthetically pleasing. Many of the sidewalks in neighborhoods in The Colony have been replaced. However, neighborhoods around the high school still have very old roads. I love the community of The Colony and the participation in events such as the Christmas, 4th of July and Homecoming parades. There are also many events throughout the year such as Liberty by the Lake, the annual carnival, golf tournaments and The Colony Half Marathon. There are many good places to eat and things to do, such as go to TopGolf, Studio Movie Grill or Hawaiian Falls. The voting process is very easy and efficient.

I believe living in the Colony has limited my ability to grow as a member of the society. It was always a small and quiet town, there wasn’t much to do here and certainly not a lot of action. It was really boring as a child because we were restricted to the mile radius of our homes. But over the years it became to devolve into more of a busy city kind of environment. Many big companies built their buildings in the colony such as Toyota, Nebraska Furniture-mart, Scheels, Top Gold, and many more place. There were so many more things to do as a high school student. I eventually found the urge to explore outside of my little city after 15 years of living in peace and quiet. I found many friends outside of the Colony while further strengthening those within the Colony.
The Colony provides a simple commute to work. With easy access to the main highways in North Dallas, getting around the city is efficient. The Colony is no more than 30 mins away from all shopping areas of Dallas, Frisco, Allen, and Plano. With family-friendly activities, The Colony is great for single families as well as college students looking for work experience.
