I have lived in the bronx all my life and I love it here. As a teenager I love to travel a lot to hang out with friends and the transportation options in the bronx makes it possible. There are many buses and trains everywhere is the bronx and if you're someone that does not like public transportation, there are many Uber drivers here as well. If you decide to move here and you have children you will never have to worry about finding the right school here. There are many different public, charter, catholic and private schools located in all parts of the bronx and the best part is, most of them are free! You have to work and you need someone to watch your smaller children? No worries! There are lots of daycares always willing to take in new children while parents are at work. As far as diversity, no place compares to the bronx. During a walk around the neighborhood you'll get to see many people from many cultures and there are many different yummy food options from different cultures :)
There are many great things to say about the Bronx that often gets lost when speaking about New York City. One quality to mention is the multicultural intersection, mostly deriving from the Caribbeans. Of course, people from the Caribbean live all across New York, but their presence in the Bronx and the fact that it has hardly been gentrified maintains an authenticity that you can see disappearing in other boroughs in the city.
The Bronx is great, but it's also incredibly neglected. There is a desperate need for more visitation from the sanitation department to empty the (very few) overfilled trash cans. It is very unfair for the residents, especially the elderly to live in a neighborhood filled with trash because of the lack of resources. The Bronx needs law enforcement (who goes through proper training and contains a clean record) to really begin giving fines for those who don't curb their dog and continue to litter. That's needed more than babysitting train stations.

The Bronx is a beautiful place with many sights to see such as the botanical garden and wave hill but to live might be more challenging. Buying a home, it’s quite expensive! There are mostly apartments, and attached houses but the cost of living in either is very high. the neighborhoods are really dangerous, locals are nice but teenagers around the area ae rowdy, a lot of gun violence and crime in this neighborhood. For 4 years I lived in Van Cortlandt Village (a little wedge framed by Jerome Reservoir/Sedgwick Ave. to the east and Van Cortlandt Park to the north). So between Kingsbridge to the east and Riverdale to the west. It was a pretty sleepy place--spacious apartments w/ pre-war detail, a terrific landlord I saw every morning before leaving for work, and green streets...schools, the park nearby. It was really nice, a good place if you have kids. If you want a hot nightlife, not the place for you. if you are looking for something affordable there are many in the area
