Texarkana has some good historical value. However, the crime is abhorrent. There is little in the way of entertainment. The main sources include the local theatre, the two local bowling alleys, and the local mall (which is slowly closing down).

It's actually two cities that "hug" at the state line. The Texas side gets all the major businesses, best clinics, both hospitals and nice schools because the tax structure and overall financial well-being are better. The Arkansas side of town is kind of pitiful. We do have hard liquor package stores, and the Texas side only has beer and wine. (Also, the cities really aren't friends at the local government level. It's more of a strangle-hold than a hug.)
The best thing about Texarkana is the PEOPLE! This is a great town to raise kids, start a business, or settle in for your Golden Years. The people here are friendly, and support each other. Teachers really care about their students and local business thrives.
