Texarkana Reviews
Rating 3.41 out of 5 136 reviews
Texarkana, also known as Twin City, lies between the NE corner of Texas (Texarkana, TX) and the SW corner of Arkansas (Texarkana, AR). While Texarkana is a relaxed town, increased construction and developments have brought more businesses to the area, which increases the availability of opportunities and employment within the city.
For parents, there are a handful of independent school districts (ISD) to choose from. In Texas, you have Liberty-Eylau ISD, Texarkana ISD, and Pleasant Grove ISD. In Arkansas, you have Texarkana Arkansas School District.
For people interested in pursuing post-secondary education, the city has Texarkana College (2-Year) and Texas A&M University (4-Year).
There are many neighborhoods and communities to choose from. There is a mall in central Texarkana, as well as plenty other places to shop. There are also many restaurants, including Texas Roadhouse, Chipotle, and Chick-fil-A to name a few. Texarkana is growing everyday and welcomes new residents openly!

There are several reasons I like the small town of Texarkana. I like that there are more friendly people in this town than there are mean spirited people. I like the fact that Texarkana has Texas A&M University! I love to see the many cultures representing Texas A&M University. The college has really affected Texarkana as in growth.
In this community the community college really prepares you for the Texas A&M. Texarkana college there was so much love and hope while attending the community college. The professors really were kind and wanted to see the students graduate and become better working adults in society. On the other hand; there are events in Texarkana I want to see change. The crime rate in Texarkana has skyrocketed to the roof. This really saddens me because Texarkana was a safe place to live. It breaks my heart to see crime on the rise. It also saddens me that teenagers and children do not take advantage of this great education.

Texarkana is the hub city of the area. It has:
- two hospitals
- a number of chain restaurants (interstate)
- Larger Community college
- Smaller four year university
- some downtown nightlife
- Army Depot west of town (major source of employment for area)
- lake southwest of town
- small airport with daily flights to Dallas (Arkansas side)
Crime in certain areas can be bad. It is deep in the Bible belt so church is a big aspect of life here. Most people here have lived here or in the area most of their lives so it can be difficult to make friends if you aren't already part of certain circles.
Nothing about the area is extraordinary, depending on what you are looking for and comparing it to. Texarkana for example is considerably nicer than Shreveport Louisiana which is an hour south. It is also nicer than many towns in Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
If you need or want to live in the Ark-La-Tex area, it is one of the best populated places to live.
