Terryville, CT is very family orientated. Really small town. It is close to Waterbury and Bristol in terms of close by developed cities. Good place to grow up considering they have really good public school. Quiet area if that is what you are looking for. The most beneficial thing to me is that there are a lot of local scholarship that have helped me finance my undergraduate. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are distributed to local high school students looking to go to college. Most of which are also renewable.
It's a very small town and the people are very friendly. There's several stores in the "downtown area" so you don't have to travel far for things if you don't want to. There's also many restaurants nearby. It's easy to get to route 8, but it takes forever to get to route 72. There is no quick way to get there. The schools are also very good and I feel like I got a good education from there. No football team, but basically every other sport you could want.
It is a very good town to raise children. I have lived in Terryville, CT for 14 years. I have really good neighbors, we look out for each other and also give each other privacy.
