Tenino is the home of the "wooden nickel!" Quiet small town itself with less than 3 thousand residents spread out within its rural principality. Great mexican restaurant located in its only shopping center and supermarket. Need to exercise, ride a bike or simple stroll take the well paved path that links all the way to Yelm.

I grew up in Tenino, and I lived there for 18 years. As I have now left for college, I definitely can appreciate my old home more, but to be totally transparent, there really wasn't that much to do there. I didn't have neighbors really, so I played by myself or with my brother. The school system there is below average and there is only one grocery store. Ultimately it's very low on resources. Residents usually have to drive at least 20 minutes for a Safeway or Target. It is a quaint little town, and pretty safe but it's nothing of value.
Tenino is a small, rural town within Thurston County, just outside of E. Olympia and on Highway 507. With a few historic, brick and cement buildings, it is a quaint little place to view for a weekend drive. Tenino is the crossroads for many travelers, with its name being derived by speculation of the old railroad system T-9-O, and who knows what else.
Dave's Market is the only supermarket in town, with friendly staff and one of the few places in Thurston County that still use plastic bags!
