Growing up in Tenafly has been awesome, and I'm going to miss this place very much when I move out of the area soon. I am a product of the Tenafly Public Schools, I started my career and businesses here, and I had an amazing network of friends over here. Yes, some people can come across as snobby and entitled. This is just a product of living in an upper middle to wealthy class suburb of New York, which brings me to the first reason I can't give Fly Town 5 stars; affordability. You need to have money to live here. Real estate is not cheap, rent is not cheap, and taxes are really high. The town is really safe but carjackings are growing around this entire county. With all that said, I will miss this place and all the great people here.
I had an overall positive experience growing up in Tenafly. Along with top-notch schools, Tenafly offers a small, tight-knit community feel with lots to offer. The central downtown area has everything you could want, from restaurants to pharmacies to salons. Additionally, Tenafly was a very safe, friendly environment.
The public school system is great and provides an excellent education. However, in general, the town is pretty small with little to do (if you want to hang out you'll most likely have to go to neighboring towns).
