I love my city! It has so many things you can do around the area for being such a small town. There is a variety of cultural history integrated into the city and the events such as farmers' markets, cultural festivals, and holiday events. I feel like I am in a good area to spend my life because the area has a great ambiance wherever you go. There are always nice people you can meet and you feel you are part of a community here.
Temple City used to be great prior to the last 15 years. TC is much smaller than other SGV cities, but was a place to go for charming mom & pop shops (hobby store, hardware store, market, bike shop, sporting goods, etc), a night out for dinner and a movie, or watch a local band at a coffeehouse. Those options are gone and so is any diversity. Although online retailers have caused the same demise in many cities, TC hasn't replaced these lost elements with any attractive diverse options. The mid-century storefront architecture on Las Tunas Ave. still exists, but all of the businesses and signage are chinese now. Sadly, TC feels like an extension of San Gabriel now. Thankfully the city has not yet let developers turn every parking lot into a high-rise condo complex, but it'll happen, and then more of the small town charm will be lost. The residential areas are also losing their charm because the city is letting flippers turn beautiful mid-century homes into hideous stucco McMansions.
Temple City is a great city! It offers residents a safe place to live. It is the perfect place for families or if you are looking to retire. Temple City is a very ecofriendly town, being the city of camellias, the city takes care of its greenery. Temple City has three elementary, two middle, and one high school. These schools provide a safe environment for children to flourish and learn. In TC, there are a few houses on sale, but they are pretty costly. Temple City mainly consists of Caucasian and Asian. Temple City's nightlife is pretty nonexistent though, there are restaurants and a few bars in the area.
