I think Tarentum is a great Suburb of Pittsburgh. It's very family oriented and affordable. I live in the East Deer end of it so that means my child has access to a great school district as well. (Deer Lakes) Personally I'd like to see more neighborhood parks Incorporated in the general walking area. I have had nothing but great experiences while staying here in Tarentum. I look forward to many more to come!
I have lived in Tarentum for the 22 years of my life. I feel very safe in this town and have a lot of friends and family that live within it. In Tarentum, it is easy to get anywhere- route 8 is only a short drive away as well as Pittsburgh. You are able to go to grocery stores within a couple mile radius. Although the Pittsburgh Mills is a short distance away, it does not offer a lot of stores that most people want to shop at (due to it declining in nature), which is a downside. The roads are not as well maintained in the wintertime as well, especially side streets.
