Tappan is a comfortable, pretty small town. Very quiet and not at all too busy, making it a good town for families. Tappan is not for city people, but for a trip it is possible to take a bus ride or drive into New York City over the bridge. Very close to New Jersey, where some great private schools are available, or you can just choose the public school system in New York. Some people forget about Tappan's history as a landmark for American history (the 76 House is here). Good for people turned off by NYC but not willing to live far upstate.

Tappan is a great town to live in. The school system is excellent and the area is very safe. Everything you need is a short distance away and public transportation is available nearby. It is not very far from New York City if you need to commute to work. Tappan is very family friendly and there are many parks, playgrounds, and children's activities. It is an expensive area to live in but is well worth the extra cost.
Tappan is a friendly hamlet of Orangetown. It is located within a excellent school system (South Orangetown Central School District). The neighbors are friendly and it is easy to make friends. Restaruants and dining are located throughout Tappan.
