Tahlequah is a great family friendly town. It still has a small-town vibe but with more amenities. Tons of outdoor activities like its beautiful lake tenkiller , float the Illinois river, hiking, bike trails, golf courses and parks!
It is a nice quiet for the most part little town. Good places to eat and the river is right at your back door so to speak. Home of Cherokee Nation so Labor day weekend there are all kinds of things going on in town. From the parade and arts and crafts to the Pow-Wow Friday and Saturday night all over the town Labor day weekend there is something to do in Tahlequah. It is a college town so there is quite a bit to do downtown on the weekends plus like I said the river is right outside of town with all the float places you could think of. Come see for yourself!
Tahlequah is a beautiful city in the hills of Eastern Oklahoma. We have the Illinois River on one side of town and the beautiful Lake Tenkiller on the other. Tahlequah is home to the Cherokee Nation and Cherokee Nation Reservation. Tahlequah also has Northeastern State University, a college that is a Minority Serving University. You can come to Tahlequah for a visit and never want to leave. I've been all over the US, and Tahlequah and Cherokee County will always be one of the most beautiful, laid back, family oriented places I've ever been.
