Surfside Beach is a beautiful little town a short drive south of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It has mostly local businesses and plenty activities for visiting families. I'd recommend it for families with kids! With less traffic on the residential streets, close proximity to beach accesses & family environment its the perfect fit for most families. It has plenty of rental houses so coming with another family or group would help keep the costs low if you're trying to vacation here instead.

Surfside Beach is a beautiful area, not as busy as Myrtle Beach area. Still a lot of family oriented events to do. School system is very advanced compared to others. Hardly hear of any violence or crime committed. Almost anything you need is within minutes. Beach is beautiful, although during the hurricane Matthew in 2016 we lost the Surfside Pier. Weather can be tricky, as any beach, you can start off the morning in the 30's and then by noon it can be as high as high 80's. If you plan a visit to the beach area, Surfside Beach is a good location. Maybe check out one of the top rated family campgrounds too (Ocean Lakes), has a waterpark and swimming area on the campgrounds and a few parks and few lakes where fishing is free (no permit/license required).
Surfside is an amazing town! Great people, amazing places to eat, beautiful beaches and not over-run with tourists. So happy we moved here!
