Sultan is the town I grew up in. It's a small 1A farm town and I enjoyed it. Though it had some issues like kids who party or do drugs it was generally speaking a safe town to grow up in. Some of my favorite memories are in the summer playing with the neighbors, walking around town, and going on hikes nearby. Sultan is the perfect balance of rural. You are only minutes away from beautiful PNW hikes, lakes, falls, and riverfront but if you need a dose of the city Seattle is only a little over an hour away. We have a cute local grocery store called Red Apple but Monroe is only 10 min. away. The Hoot Owl is the place to go for candy and drinks in the summer. Just like any town there are some places where homeless and drugies like to hang out under the bridge and such but with someone it's perfectly safe to walk under the bridge to the water. We have Osprey park with some pretty cool trials and my favorite restaurants in town are McDonalds, Subway, and Ixtapa.
I've lived in Sultan my whole life. It's based in a pretty area surrounded by mountains and waterfalls. Only probably is that the city is in major need of an upgrade. Renovated buildings, schools, etc. The city was offered a State Bond, but the voters of the City turned it down. So now we're stuck in buildings and schools that need desperate renovations. Other than that, Sultan in quiet and overall a fairly safe spot. Got to get used to a commute though.
Sultan is a nice, quiet, small town that is great for raising a family. There are some opportunities for employment however majority of the people who live here do commute to the neighboring cities and towns.
