I live in a small town on the outskirts of Syracuse. There are very few opportunities and the section of the town I live in is relatively poor and working class. The city is so focused on making itself appear trendy by providing incentives for upscale bars, restaurants, and housing to move in near the university that all other sections of town are suffering. It is no longer possible for many of the less wealthy residents of the city to live downtown due to gentrification, making the outskirts of the city and the parts of the city surrounding downtown to become overpopulated and underfunded.
