I've lived in Sturgis all my life and I thoroughly enjoy living here. We get a bad rap for the Motorcycle Rally but the rest of the year Sturgis is a really nice and welcoming place. The people are really kind and the schools are really great, the teachers are especially kind.

In my opinion, I feel that my area is a great place to live. The Sturgis area hosts the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally every year during August. Some see it as a hindrance on our community, but I feel that it keeps our community on the map and up with the rest of the world; plus the Rally greatly benefits the city of Sturgis in terms of income. I really enjoy the healthy mix of culture and modern and agricultural influences this area holds. I intend on living in this area once I am done with my college education, and start my own veterinary practice within the community.
Sturgis is a relatively quiet town. The only things that bring in violence are possibly drugs from the interstate, or extra issues associated with the Motorcycle Rally. Other than that there is nothing out of the ordinary as far as crime goes. Our police force does an excellent job at keeping their presence.
