There are a lot of rich people in stonington, but not just with money, they also come with the stereotype. Rich white people with boats, forcing their kids to take AP classes, and 50 year old wome gossiping like high schoolers. Adults refuse to make new friends, as this is what my mother experienced almost every time she tried to talk to someone and be friendly. However, their public education system is amazing and for me that cancels out the rest. It’s also very very safe and there are a lot of nice restaurant (even though most of them are very expensive). Lots of things to do in the next towns over. Everything closes at 9.

The town is made up of the haves (largely retirees from Southwestern, CT who live on the water) and have nots (NRA members, single-parent families, people who can't find jobs with a livable wage, former Borough residents who have been pushed out by gentrification.) Conformists and bullies shoot down anything they don't understand or can't control. Racism, sexism are on display and cheered. I'd not raise a family here if I had a choice.
The town of Stonington is a very diverse and safe town, there are many community programs and activities. The community is very involved in keeping the town safe and clean.
