Working in Stillwater
I love living out in Stillwater. I live in May Township, a very quiet part of Stillwater. We like the peace. Downtown Stillwater is also an exciting place to go to every now and then. There's nothing I'd change about it!
In general, Stillwater is a great place to live. Clean, low crime, and a generally kind, educated, engaged community. It’s very cold in the winter, so 3 months out of the year can be downright miserable, but our spring, summer and fall make it worth it. The only negative I can write about now is our school system. While we have teachers that are really great, dedicated people who love what they do, they are stuck in a system that makes their jobs incredibly difficult. District admin is overrun with corrupt, self-serving individuals right now. They have broken apart our community and done irreparable damage to our schools, the current students and our reputation. We can no longer trust these people. Come live here, but send your children to school in one of the neighboring districts or one of the many private or charter schools that do a better job working with their students and families.
Stillwater is the perfect little town. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. If you love thrift shopping and antique stores, then Downtown Stillwater is where you need to be. To start off the day everyone needs coffee, and there are so many cute coffee shops all over Stillwater. Not only are they just good when you're in a rush, but also if you want to get together with some friends and study. The food is also very good here. There is a great variety of food; such as, Asian, American, Mexican, and much more. Stillwater is overall a a nice place to visit. A change in scenery is always needed.
