Stillwater is very homey! Most residents are friendly. It is a college town, so during the school year, its quite busy and traffic can be a nightmare - especially with all of the construction being done on one of the main streets. Shopping is a little limited, but there are a few cute local stores.
I’ve lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma for most of my life. I started kindergarten here and I graduated high school here! It’s absolutely a wonderful place to live and to visit. We have the college campus nearby. With lots of restaurants, local shops to visit, and numerous parks!
I love Stillwater, it's my home and it will always have a special place in my heart. But it is a very conservative place to live and I just don't feel as if I completely fit in on that aspect. Stillwater is a safe and friendly place to raise a family, there's rarely ever something going on that isn't more than a dollar general getting robbed. It is a safe city. I can't help feel like it is extremely cookie cutter friendly. Every house looks the same, every family goes to the lake for Spring break, they bleed orange for OSU. Everyone is just the same family in different fonts. I just feel so immensely bored here constantly. I need an escape from such a college town where all there is to do is drive around and go to sonic for fun. That doesn't take away from the amazing childhood I had here though it's a great place for children our schools are well educated and run well. Growing up just makes you realize sometimes it's ok to need a change.
