I love Stickney. I moved here just before middle school and made some great friends. The neighborhoods and parks are always clean, and the people are friendly too. I’ve honestly had no negative experiences here before. I laso enjoy how often police patrol, it provides a nice sense of security, which is greatly appreciated.
I've been living in Stickney since 2000. Back then the demographic was mostly white where as now its mixed with white and Hispanic, not so much black. I always feel safe as the police are always patrolling and the police station and fire station is very close, they are very responsive. Very clean and nice neighborhood, village is great too. The only downside is some of the neighbors. Some not all. Some can be snobby or complain too much about where you park your car. I have 2 dogs and Stickney has a lot of people with dogs but there are some who don't like that? Someone near my house is always complaining about dogs and calls the police on my dogs barking even though they've only been outside for like 5 minutes. I cant stop my dog from barking? They're dogs that's what they do just like babies crying. I have dogs get over it, maybe you should've just stayed in Cicero where apparently there aren't any dogs? Get over yourself.
It's a peaceful place to live in and a great area to raise a family. I've lived here since I was 5. I am the first generation. While my parents came from different countries, I was born here. After my sister was born my parents decided to move out of our apartment and live in a house where we can grow in. They came across a house in Stickney and loved the neighborhood and how safe it was, many parks to play in the area, as well as an elementary school where I attended. I had a great childhood here. A great community.
