There is a huge range of employment opportunities for people in this area. The local hospital that employs people, not only locally, but who drive for an hour to work here. An even spread of dairy farms provides a large majority of local jobs for people who don't even live 15 minutes away from the farm. There are enough fast food restaurants to provide teens with employment and locally owned restaurants that employ even more people. Even more local businesses provide jobs, like banks, veterinary offices, grain stores, hardware stores, and more that I probably can't think of now.

Recently, I've noticed how much our little town is growing. I remember having to travel an hour away to get construction materials, and sometimes getting a haul of cheap groceries. In the past two years, there's been at least five new restaurants and bars in the city. Local hardware shops have expanded and now have a lumber shed and offer flooring, tile, and sheet metal. Most of the companies, besides the restaurants, are chain stores, but that isn't restricting the locally owned places. We have an awesome farmer's market in the late summer and fall, where not only the Amish, but other farmers come to sell crops and home made goods.
Wisconsin is really a wonderful place to be when it comes to natural areas. The hills are absolutely beautiful no matter what time of year. There are countless local parks and natural areas in Vernon county alone. Not to mention that it is right along the Mississippi River, which provides great fishing, boating, and canoeing. The area provides an nice list of outdoor activities, no matter what time of year it is. Fishing, camping and hiking is very popular in the summer. In the fall, many people like to visit the local orchards which are hidden behind the many tree covered rolling hills. Snow mobiles rides and ice fishing are very popular among the local people in the winter. The spring is really a great time to watch the world come back to life after a long winter.
